In order to watch tv nowadays, you can’t just turn it on. You’ll have to have an antenna for free basic channels, cable or satellite, a connected device (i.e Sling, AppleTV, Roku) of streaming apps (Netflix, Hulu etc) They are pre installed however require a paid monthly subscription. This tv is like an Amazon fire stick with a built in screen. Worse case scenario, you can watch YouTube for free, as long as you have connected your tv to either wifi or a hard wired Ethernet connection
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is and all SMART TV's are TV's first. Meaning, you can connect directly to cable or attach a digital antenna to watch your common channels. If you want to get the most out of it, you will need to connect to Wifi and because it is a Fire Tv it works with an Amazon Prime account if you have one. You don't need to use any apps if you don't want to.

This television has the FireTV platform which allows you to watch content from many digital content providers through apps like "netflix" or "hulu" and many others. This television also does have a Tuner built in which will allow you to watch over the air broadcast for free with an antenna. If you have a cable box or other video device, you can plug it in as well! Hope this helps, enjoy your day!
