Yes there is a battery pack you can get for it.

Yes, there are third party battery sources that attach to the Echo. I have one and it lasts for hours, enabling me to carry the Echo around or outside the house.

I wish it could be portable but it's electric only.

There are after market accessories you can buy. I have seen battery power sources out there but haven't tried anything. If you are interested in portability you might want to check out the Amazon Tap. Works much like the echo but requires tapping it's button to ask it a question/give a command.

I saw the Amazon Tap is now available which is a portable unit with most of the same functionality.

One one power source comes with the Echo.
