• The mini Jack on the back is software selectable to be either an input or output. So if set to input you could use it as an external speaker for your tv. Your TV needs the necessary audio output for cable connection. Generally an RCA TO MINI plug adapter is all you need. The left and right then adapt to the mini plug adapter.

• Hello, You can connect it to a Fire TV Stick device (any in the family of products) to have sound then come out of the Alexa versus the TV, but not just a smart TV. Hope that helps clarify. It all works over WiFi.
