This happened to us as well. I unplugged the device, waited a few seconds and it was fine after that. I understand that happens when the device gets confused but why it happens after it's been playing music for a while is beyond me, but that's what happens. Have not found a better solution than unplugging for a few seconds.

You can say "Alexa, check for updates." to see if there are any updates needed. Also, if you are using a 3rd party music service (such as Apple Music Spotify) you may need to unlink and relink your accounts to see if that fixes it.
