The first generation is no longer for sale and was never offered outside of Amazon. Any version you see of the Dot that is new will be the second generation.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes, Best Buy currently sells only the second generation of the Echo Dot. The original Dot was essentially a beta model and was sold only through amazon and sold out since last spring. All currently available Echo Dots are "second generation".
