Yes, just the speaker is smaller, so listening to music isn't the greatest.

Same exact thing. Just missing the larger (better) speaker. The Dot CAN pair with a Bluetooth speaker if you want better quality music or sound. The small speaker it comes with is meant to communicate with Alexa.

The dot does everything the echo does. The only difference is the internal speaker in each. The dot has a much smaller speaker that isn't meant to be used as a quality sounding music speaker. However you can connect it to your stereo system for excellent sound!!

The difference between the two is the speaker. Both have access to alexa. The echo by itself has a very good speaker to be able to listen to music on etc. The echo dots have a very basic speaker just for alexa to respond do with. You can play music with them but the sound isn't any better than a cellphone speaker. You would want to hook the dot up to another speaker.

The echo dots are amazing and more portable if you got a power brick..... I love the way it connects to my samsung surround speakers through Bluetooth. Just say Alexa Bluetooth and it turns on the speakers and bum you got nice music. You can even hide it out of site...
