If that doesn't work, you may want to check your internet connection. Typically, Alexa will tell you if she is having issues connecting to the internet, but that might be it. You can also ask her, "Alexa, why did you say that" and she will tell you the reason she answered a certain way. I would say that if none of that helps, then you could do a factory reset of the device. After doing this, if the problem persists, you can reach out to Amazon customer support for more information.
