I suggest getting an outdoor camera that is made by the same company as your indoor camera. That way, you would not need to add another app to your device (phone/tablet) to setup. Either option that you suggest (add on or stand alone), just make sure it is compatible with Alexa if you want to connect it to your Echo Show.

If you want to use a different brand, make sure it is compatible with Alexa and be sure to enable the skill for that company in the Alexa app so your Echo Show 5 can pull up the camera when you want to view it. I'm no sure what brand of camera you are looking into, so I cannot tell you the difference between cameras. I hope that helps.
