• Hello Sharon, Echo Show 8 uses WiFi to function, but you would need to download the Alexa app to a mobile device for registration and customization purposes. You can also use a tablet that has access to the Amazon, Google Play, or Apple app store to download the Alexa app.

• I brought one for my senior mother. Once it was connected to her wifi we were able to keep in touch. The show allows me to check on her anytime.
