You will need the Alexa app on your phone. From there you can add the skill to control your lights. Just select the brand that your lights use. It should mention it on the box of your lights. The Alexa should detect it in a minute. When activated, you can control with your voice or using the touchscreen.

Note that some lights systems (such as the Lutron Caseta system, an extremely reliable system BTW) require a separate hub to operate with Alexa. Some lighting systems have Alexa “Skills” that allow for control by any Alexa device like the Echo Show. The Echo Show 8 does not have a Zigbee or Z-wave hub built into it AFAIK.
