• Both family members need the devices. It won’t work with an iPad.

• Hello, FaceTime! The other family wouldn't necessarily need an Echo Show device. They could do video calling from the Alexa app on their phone or from a Fire Tablet. They could go through Alexa communications, Skype, or Zoom in order to video chat with you through your Echo Show 8. FaceTime is an Apple specific app, so you would not use that. I hope that helps.
