I also have a Kindle Fire (although I used my smart phone to set it up), but all you have to do to set it up is download the free Echo Alexa app. It is rather self explanatory as far as the set up goes.

Amazon Echo connects to wifi. You will need to download the Alexa App to even set up your echo. I have not owned a Kindle Fire but if you can not download the Alexa App on your Kindle Fire you will not be able to use the Echo.
