I am not sure about subscribing to a newspaper, but the tablet has great clarity

Hi there! Several newspapers have apps available for the Fire HD 10 on the Amazon Appstore, including the Washington Post and the New York Times. Additionally, you can always access your favorite papers online via the Silk browser. As far as clarity, the Fire HD 10 features a full HD screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and 224 pixels per inch which looks great to me!
