You have to be online with some type of Internet service to check email. If do not have at home your tablet should be able to pick up Wi-Fi anytime out somewhere that has it. I have a Digiland 7" Tablet and I can check email on all accounts from home (we have home Internet) and out at anyplace offering free Wi-Fi. On my tablet under "Settings" there is a "Wi-Fi" setting, that shows what Wi-Fi is available near or where we are at, and it also remembers the setting of places we frequent so signs me in automatically whenever we return. My tablet came with built in aps for Gmail & Yahoo eMail, but also has a browser button so I was able to just go online and simply sign into live.com to check my msn email account. If my 7" tablet has the ability I'm guess they all do, hope this info helps some :)
