Hello, Aeroroadster! Yes, you can adjust the Fire HD 8 screen to make it better for outside reading. The Kindle devices (instead of Fire Tablets) are more suited for outside reading, but the tablet can be used. The Kindle will use less battery and will be easier to see outside.
