• This is a fully operational tablet that could be used by anyone who is okay with a 7" screen. You don't have to use Freetime and you could remove the cover and replace it with something more age appropriate.

• No, my 3 and 6 year old use this. Kindle FreeTime uploads age appropriate apps, I love it. Takes the guess work out, and I get the full version of hundreds of books and games and videos, saving hundreds of dollars.
