• Yes you have to have some kind of internet connection to use your fire stick. Without it, the screen just tells you to connect to internet.

• Hello Technophobe, the Amazon Fire TV devices do require a WI-FI connection. The minimum speed for internet is 3 Mbps for Standard definition. The recommended speed is 20 Mbps to get full HD video. Have a great day!
