“I don't have Wi-Fi. Can I buy a cheap Wi-Fi router from Amazon and plug that in to my TV and then plug in the fire stick to get Internet access ie; Netflix, Brit Box, PBS, etc.? Does my TV have to be a smart TV for the fire stick to work? Thx!”

You don’t need a smart T V but the better the router you have the happier you will be with the firestick

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Fire stick will pick pup your Wi-Fi SSID (th name of you wireless network). So technically you do not need to hook up your TV to the wireless router. Once your router is connected to the internet and starts broadcasting a wi-fi signal, all you need to do is to hook up your Fire stick to an HDMI port on your TV, change the TV input to HDMI1 or HDM2 ( depends where you physically hooked up the F stick). On your TV you will see the Amazon logo coming up and it will ltke you through the network setup process and account registration.

Do you have unlimited data and the option to use your phone as a hotspot? With my Verizon phon phone, I have unlimited data. When my cable got shut off cos I didn't pay it, I thought I'd use my phone data, which worked great till I used 15gig. What I didn't know was, after using 15gig, Verizon slows down your data speed for the rest of the month. Read your phone contract if you're thinking of doing this.
