• Roku and Fire TV are two different items, they are basically competitors. Both are similar in that they offer plug in content through the internet, but are different in the content they offer. I am biased towards the Firestick, but either works well.

• The firestick can be jail broken and you can put 3rd party apps to watch free movies, YouTube has how to videos to watch and do it as you watch.

• No, you do not need the Fire Stick if you have a roku.

• The fire stick is going to provide you with far more features than the Roku. Primarily because you will have access to Amazon Prime Video, which offers free on-demand movies, tv shows, and videos, if you have an Amazon Prime subscription. With the Roku you really don't get any free movies, tv shows, or videos.
