no but having the firestick gives you the cool feature of using alexa on the tv if you have an amazon account. i have both the roku and the fire stick. the roku is better for searching for movies the firestick is a bit stuck on just amazon stuff. you can not get vudo on the firestick. you can use voice control and blue tooth head phones on the firestick. both the roku and the firestick have there advantages.
