Hello, MRootBeer. The ads are on the lock screen of the Kindle while it is not in use. They are not ads that you have to watch, but are present when the Kindle is locked and not in use. Once you unlock the Kindle and begin using it, the ads go away. There are a variety of different ads, but they are mostly for different things you can read on the Kindle. If you want to remove the ads, you can do that from your Amazon account after purchasing the Kindle and registering it to your account. There is a small fee for doing so, but it removes the ads completely. Here are the steps to remove the ads: 1. Go to Manage Your Content and Devices. 2. Select Devices, and then select your device. 3. Under Special Offers, click Remove offers. A pop-up window then displays the price to remove special offers. 4. Select End Offers and Pay the Fee to proceed. I hope that helps. Have a great day!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can buy various Kindle Paperwhites "Ad-supported", or Ad Free for another $15 or $20. Sometimes Amazon customer service will convert it for free if you are a good customer and they are in a good mood, otherwise they can charge you $15 or $20 (depending on model?) to remove ads. They have told me that it is then the exact same software and features as the original Ad Free. Some seem to have trouble until they do a factory reset (easy to do), but report they lose non-Amazon-purchased ebooks. So if you buy it, before loading books on, decide if you want to convert to Ad Free. That's all I know.
