You can get some free books. Most current bestsellers require payment, but less than buying a hard copy of the book. Local public librarys also allow you to check books out digitally for free with a library card.

You can buy an unlimited free book subscription through Amazon, and Prime members get some free books. These are not necessarily books you are looking for. To get bestsellers or popular books, you usually need to buy them, and they do not cost much less than real books.

If you like to borrow from your public library on OVERDRIVE you can, but there are a few extra steps. Check out the Kindle Paperwhite competitor. It isn't water proof but it is easy to download books from the library for free and the Comfort Prolight is awesome!!
