It will work with a lamp with an inline switch - BUT - you would have to keep the inline switch always set to "on". If you set the inline switch to "off", Alexa will not be able to turn the light on again. By keeping the inline switch set to "on", the Amazon plug can itself be turned on and off using Alexa, thereby controlling power to the lamp. As long as the inline switch is on Alexa can turn the plug on to let power flow to it. If you turn the inline switch off, Alexa would be able to turn the plug on and allow power to flow to the lamp, but with the inline switch off the light will not turn on. If you still have the TPlink plug, you can install the Kasa app on your phone. Then you can enable the Kasa skill in Alexa to integrate Alexa with the TPlink plug.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It should work with the inline switch, just turn it on and add it to the devices, I have my living room lamp added and it took me a minute to figure it out but once I found where to add devices piece of cake
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It’s REALLY easy. I don’t recommend the other brands bc they are too difficult to set up and you have to download even more apps for them. These are basically plug and play. Works perfect with lamps or Christmas trees of whatever else has a on/off switch.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I haven't tried the TPlink plugs, but these are super easy. I have several throughout the house and it's fun and easy to set up schedules and routines to control them. I have lamps plugged into three different plugs in different rooms. You just leave the lamp itself turned on with the switch. When you want it off, use a voice command with Alexa to turn it off at the plug rather than then inline switch.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have my lamp pluged into my smart plug and I ask Alexa to turn it on and the light comes on. What do you mean lamps with inline switches.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.only if the switch is on
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the same problem with TP Link. It would not connect to the old IRIS system I had from Lowes, and would not work with Kasa, It will work with inline switches, you just have to leave the switch on and control with the smart device.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I didn't have a problem setting it up. I just followed the directions. It takes a couple of steps. I imagine it would work with inline switches because it controls the power to the lamp, but you could ask the company.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is very easy to use. We have its paired with Alexa through the Echo Dot. Just had to plug then in, turn the power on. Pair then with the app and voila, they were working. As for the inline switch I think it should. Ours are hooked to lamps with switches on the lamp. Just turn the lamp switch on and the plug will either apply power to the lamp or not. Works great!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is super easy if you have an Alexa device (echo, etc).
