“I have an Emmerson TV with a Fire Stick (2nd Gen), bought an Echo Dot (3rd Gen) and a smart plug for the TV. All directions that I have googled say, just plug it into the smart plug. WHAT do I plug into Smart plug....the TV itself or the fire stick cord”

• Smart plug will just work to Turn-On or Of the power by giving instruction using Echo Dot. So whichever ( Fire Stick Or TV) power cord you will connect to Smart Plug it will turn On/OF that device. Once plus is setup, you can name the plug in Alexa app as TV, Fire Stick and just say Example turn ON TV , Turn Off TV. I would recommend contacting Amazon customer support and I think they should be able to assist setting up the smart plug if needed. I hope I was able to give some clue.

• The item you want the smart plug to control gets plugged into the plug. I.e. if you want to turn off your tv with your echo commands, then plug the tv power cord into the plug.

• The TV. The fire stick can be turn on and off with voice commands/software. The TV needs the plug since most do not come with the software built into them and do not have Wi-Fi and or networking built into them. However if you do have a smart TV then you can use the plug anything in your home that plugs into a socket without having it be smart enabled or networked. I have a two year old cheap box fan plugged into my plug. When I say Alexa turn off the plug it will turn off the power of whatever is plugged into it. I hope that the helps answering your question

• Plug it in the wall then your tv or light.make sure you go to Alexa and open then put on what room or what light Then your done

• This isn’t really meant for use with a fire stick. Plug the smart plug into the wall socket and then plug the tv into it. If the fire stick is powered via usb and your tv has a USB port you can power it through your tv and control the power on both devices at the same time.
