That depends on lots of factors. Reading the included materials it likes to have the signal at 70% or what I would guess is -70 dbm. The device should have a light on the front of it that lights up if it thinks it is to far away according to the material included with it. The short answer, assuming no walls or interference roughly 70 feet. If you have any of interference or walls, which you probably do, 35 feet or less (this takes into account vertical and horizontal distance).

That depends on the signal strength of the router. From the Helios user interface we recommend that you have at least 70% signal from your router.
