“I live in an area where it is difficult to get in abc, a low vhf channel. The 4max gets it in pretty consistently but when mounting it I found that if I was touching one of the dipoles the picture was perfect but when I let go I lost some signal. Ideas?”

If you can, raise the antenna. Height and orientation of the antenna impacts overall picture quality and availability.
