The higher you mount the antenna, the better. Mine is in my attic and I never have any problems. If you mount it lower, the signal might have to go through your walls and your neighbor's walls to get to you.

The thing about mounting in the attic is that it is higher. That really helps with reception, so the higher it is typically the better. I did play around with other locations and I do believe that the attic gave me the best indoor reception because of the height.
