Hmm ... never tried one on a steel roof. But I mounted mine temporarily on a wooden base and moved it around till I was happy it was not visible to my HOA. You can try that and see how the steel roof affects reception. You definitely can't install this in your attic the steel roof will block the signal but mounted ON the roof might enhance reception. Remember that you can also mount it on a pole away from the house too. All HDTV antenna rely on line of sight. Rumor has it that you guys have mountains out there so if there's one in that 70 mile stretch to those transmitters you wont get good reception (if any .. depends on how big the obstructions are). On the other hand if you live on one of those mountains looking down on those antenna you'll be very happy with reception. As for cancelling with your current provider ... that's a discussion with you, customer service and your credit card. But remember that HDTV will give you local channels so if you want to watch ESPN or BRAVO or any number of specialty cable stations you wont get them from ANY HDTV antenna. Many people still keep their cable provider for the internet and then use a streaming service (HULU, NETFLIX, DIRECT TV NOW ...lots of others) to get their favorite channels. Google CABLE CUTTERS, or HDTV broadcasts in my area, setting up my HDTV antenna and you will quickly become an expert ...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I receive stations that are 65 miles away. I haven't even mounted it in the best position yet. It is worth a try. Very good antenna.
