I have an Ipad already....it's a few years old, but has never been taken on a trip, never been outside or exposed to weather. It sits on my desk and is used infrequently. Problem is....the screen is coming apart from the body. Is this normal? null

No...I’ve had ones my kids used that were much older and they never did that. We always have a case protecting them.

Jerry: Over time the Aluminum Frame on your Ipad may bend from pressure (objects set on top of it) or recieve minor damage to the corners. This will cause the top screen to begin to have a visible gap between itself and the frame. There is really no economically viable way to fix this other than purchasing a new model. This would be considered damage by user and not covered by warranty,
