Currently the normal iPad is at its 8th generation, iPad mini at 5th gen, air at 4th gen, Pro 11 inch at 3rd gen, and iPad Pro 12.9 inch at 5th generation, and the difference between the IPad 8th generation an iPad Air 4 are many things, first of all the screen is much larger as the air has no home button which allows the Air 4 to use Touch ID built into the power button with the IPad 8 having a 10.2 inch screen and the air 4 having a 10.9 inch screen, second the edges are flat on the air which allows it to support the 2nd generation of Apple Pencil; thirdly, the air 4 has an A14 chip while the IPad 8 has an A12 making the air much faster and more power efficient, fourthly the cameras on both sides of the air 4 are better, the air 4 supports the magic keyboard, and lastly the Air 4 uses usb - c while the IPad 8th gen uses lightning.
