No built in card reader but it may be possible to plug an external sd card reader into the usb-c port. Alternatively the device can be synced to iCloud encrypted storage for a monthly fee.

No, the internal storage is all you have. You can pay for cloud storage through Apple, but you cannot physically add additional storage.
