“Can I type using an iPad or does it require a separate purchase of a keyboard?”

• I almost bought the keyboard at the same time I bought the iPad but decided to wait to see if I really needed it. I've had it several weeks and have been typing pretty comfortable just on the iPad. I may still get the keyboard later on but I'm also pretty happy without it

• You can use the keyboard that comes up but having a keyboard is more convenient.

• No keyboard is needed...typing on .the screen is awesome. The 12.9 has allowed almost a full sized keypad.
