It depends on which model you are looking at. I personally have the Wi-Fi only version of the 1TB M5 iPad, which does not have cellular capabilities. However, Apple does sell a 'Wi-Fi + Cellular' version of this iPad, and those are sold unlocked at Best Buy. Keep in mind that the new M5 models use eSIM only, so there is no physical SIM card slot anymore. Even with my Wi-Fi model, I find the connection seamless because my iPhone automatically shares its hotspot whenever I'm away from home. If you specifically need cellular built-in, just make sure you select the 'Wi-Fi + Cellular' model before adding it to your cart!
