Yes go to Crucial.com and select your iMac model and it will help you select memory upgrade. The unit I purchase came with 8gigs of ram using 2 slots. The iMac 27" 2017 model has 4 slots. I added (2) 8 gig DDR4 2400 sticks of ram which gave me 24 total gigs of ram. This should be plenty unless you are using video editing software and ripping files. Good luck the upgrade is easy. There are many video's on how to install memory on iMac. Just do a google search on how to upgrade memory for iMac 27" model 2017.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It can take up to 64 gigs of RAM. It will take a 16 gig RAM chip in each of its 4 slots The only provision is that any RAM upgrades should be done in pairs (i.e. 2X16, 2X4, 2X8 at a time). It come with 2X4 out of the box, which is a little low IMO. It is easy to upgrade through a access hatch on the back of the machine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.note that Crucial has two versions of these 8 G memory chips. The ones you want specify "Apple Certified" or "For Macintosh" on the back of the box. Very tight tolerances for Apple computers. The other "generic" Crucial chips may work or may not, according to techs at Best Buy and MicroCenter. The Apple Certified Crucial sticks are only $5 more.... I added 16 gigs (2x8) for a total of 24G and the speed difference is amazing
