- Answer No, you don't have to use a SIM card. You can just use the unit for WiFi only reception. However, should you need a cellular data plan in the future, you can use the embedded SIM in the device to select a plan from a particular data provider or you can visit a data provider and they can provide a SIM that you can insert into the device. In my opinion, T-Mobile and Verizon provide the most choices for tablet data plans with reliable connectivity.

- Answer Mine was unlocked..and I bought at a Best Buy Mobile store, and Best Buy says it's the same model as mine u are looking to purchase through Best Buy. Idk if purchasing online makes a difference but I would assume it wouldn't. I used mine with Mobile pcs and then switched to Verizon service, no problems what so ever. Idk for sure if ANY sim would work though. Not sure which carrier u are trying to go with.

QuestionDoes this work like the larger iPad pros when using the pencil and the coloring app? I’m wanting to make sure you can rest your hand on it and it not leave marks when you are using the coloring app.

- Answer If the 9.7" iPad Pro model you are evaluating is unlocked (see webpage tablet is being advertised on for more information), you don't have to sign up for a data plan - you can just use it for Wifi. However, if you don't plan on using cellular data on the tablet, you could purchase a WiFi only model for a lower price...

- Answer Hi, Mushroom No, you have to buy your own. I have T-Mobile as my carrier, and I went there and add the IPad service to my account and got a free sim card. You can go to your carrier and they will give the sim card, you will have a monthly fee for using the cell data. Joana
