Change the settings from your iPhone

I finally figured it out after trying a few things, so here’s what worked for me: 1. Turn off Automatic Ear Detection – Sometimes the sensors misread movement and think you took them out. Go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the ⓘ next to your AirPods, and toggle it OFF. 2. Forget and Re-pair your AirPods – This resets the connection. Just go to Bluetooth settings, hit “Forget This Device,” then hold the button on the case to reconnect them. 3. Avoid Bluetooth interference – If you’re around a lot of wireless signals (like in public places or near Wi-Fi routers), it can cause skipping. Try using just one AirPod in that case — it actually helps. 4. Update firmware – AirPods update automatically, but only when they’re charging and near your phone. Leave them connected and close to your iPhone overnight to make sure they’re up to date. 5. Turn off Wi-Fi Calling – Weirdly, this helped with call stability. Just go to Settings > Cellular > Wi-Fi Calling and turn it off temporarily. 6. Reset Network Settings (last resort) – If all else fails, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. It’ll wipe your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings, but it fixed my problem. 7. Clean your AirPods – If there’s any dirt or moisture blocking the sensors or speaker grills, it can mess things up. I just used a soft brush and dry cloth to gently clean mine.

If the setting is turned ON, it mutes the sound from music or feeds such as Zoom meetings if you speak. For Zoom, this works much better in the OFF position. Adaptive Audio settings control noise cancellation from sounds in your immediate environment.
