A modem is used to receive the internet signal from your service provider and a router is used to distribute that signal to your computer and other devices that uses the internet. It’s routed to your devices by wireless and by wire also.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Modem receives the signal from the wall whether it's phone or cable internet and then distributes it to a router that can broadcast the signal as wifi or using an ethernet cord.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The router sits in between your Internet connection and your local network. It lets you connect multiple devices to the Internet through one physical Internet connection and also lets those devices communicate with one another over the local network. The router must be plugged into a device that can transmit your digital traffic over whatever type of Internet connection you have. And that device is a modem.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Modem receives the connection from your internet provider which then allows you to connect a device to the modem via network cable (RJ45 connector). The router would connect to the modem so that you can “route” the internet connection to multiple devices. If it is a wireless router, you can connect your devices wirelessly (like phones, tablets, laptops etc...)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Modem connects devices to the internet and Router is the method by which the connection is made??????
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A modem is a bridge. It connects via coax cable, phone line, ethernet or fiber optic line. It allows the Router, next in line to get an address (like your mailbox address). The Router then routs the information to your computer, that has its own "inside" address. The two might be an all in one device and may include wiFi as well. The Comcast Cable modem rented out over the past few years is such a device.
