You can put it inside the bag liner or in a pocket in the bag and yes it’ll track anywhere in the world, I know from experience. If a iPhone user comes anywhere near it, it will report the location to you via the find my app on your iPhone.

This way they are protected but also not visible to others who may wish to remove them. They have worked perfectly on our recent trip to Europe and provided an easy confirmation of where our bags were at the departure airport and upon arrival. Very easy to set up and can be used in any country irrespective of where you may be! Highly recommended.
