Certified open-box is the most extensively tested open box classification BestBuy has. In fact, I would trust a certified product more than I would some “new” products. With certified you have a guarantee the device is fully functional, undamaged, all ports work and function as they should, and all accessories are good and functional (plus you get a little extra off the top). when I purchased it was new enough to still get Applecare+ but that's long gone.
