To create a stereo pair, both HomePod speakers need to be assigned to the same room. In the Home app on your iOS or iPadOS device, tap a HomePod. Tap the Settings button. • I wish. You can group two homepods into its own group, and two mini's into its own group and play music over them. However, it doesn't appear Apple has any plan to do anything with more than two speakers. There's an Apple KB article that essentially says as much.
