“Hello! Does the HomePod Mini play a tone or anything when it turns on/off? (Some speakers have stupid loud "POWERING ON/OFF - doot doot dooooooot" tones, which are really disruptive when listening to music to fall asleep.)”

It does not other than during initial setup. Once paired to the home you have though, relocating it does not initialize the startup sound. Also, once plugged in, it’s always on and never needs o be “woken up” like you would find in most portable Bluetooth speakers.

No. It works well in bedrooms. There's even an option to prevent the light on it from turning on.

I have original Homepods elsewhere but in the BR have a mini and use it every night with sleep timer. Works great--just goes silent.
