• No. If you wish, you can send all audio to the HomePod via Airplay on your Apple device, which is entirely free and works for playing music from your phone. You will need a subscription to a music service, like Apple Music ($5-10 a month) if you want it to play music straight from the speaker, independent of your phone.

• Hi Cathy, There is no monthly user fee for using Apple’s HomePod Mini. Once you have purchased the item and set it up in your home through the Home app on your smartphone, you are free to use it.
