You can airplay spotify or youtube and yes it controls all of your HomeKit products.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You CAN use Spotify and other third party music services, but only via AirPlay (WiFi device to speaker streaming); The shortcoming of this is that voice controls only work with Apple Music. If you've got an Apple Watch as well, this could be argument for switching over to Apple Music as Spotify has yet to put out an app for Apple Watch too so you would gain tether-less (if you have a Cellular Watch) music streaming capabilities and both playback and voice-control functionality of the HomePod (Side note: if you purchase the 12-month Apple Music prepaid card you get 12 months for the price of 10).
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will only have support to control certain smart home devices. It will work with any smart home device that works with Apple HomeKit
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Third party music services will not be supported initially. Apple has not said if they will or will not be supporting third party music services in a future update. It does have Bluetooth so you may be able to stream a third party music service from your phone to the HomePod. I am not sure on this though. Yes, it will be HomeKit enabled to control your smart home accessories.
