The base model in store with 8gb cannot be upgraded. You have to contact an Apple store or headquarters and order one with the specs you want, if you choose not to get the base model. If you want 16gb you will have to pay $200 extra. For each spec you want to upgrade the cost is $200 each step, if you go up to next level from there then, that's $400 and so on. The same applies to the storage. If you go from 256 to 512 that's another $200.
