“I have an i-pad, I've een instructed to go to i-tunes to renew it, but the screen/i-pad is locked. I see no way to unlock the screen to enter my pass code. Can you help, please?”

Do like what I done and contact Apple Support. They will help you with your problem but be at your computer have it plugged up ready when they answer your call.
