Unlocked means if you plan to use cellular data you can choose the cellular company of your choice. Verizion, ATT, etc. You can use previous assigned earbuds.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Unlocked refers to the iPad not being carrier (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T) specific. If you want to activate the cellular capabilities of this iPad, contact your cell carrier and get a SIM card from them and insert it into the SIM slot. Yes, this iPad still has a standard headphone jack as well as Bluetooth capabilities.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Term "unlocked" means that you are able to use it with whichever internet provider you currently use for a previous IPad. It is not a part of a monthly payment plan with an internet provider. Once you have bought the "unlocked" IPad, you can simply go to your internet provider and add it to your current bill. or transfer the number you use for your current IPad to the newer one. Hope this helps. As for the ear buds, I have been using those that I have for my IPhone. They work very well. If you purchase this IPad, I suggest that you buy the Apple Pencil to go along with it. I love this feature. It provides additional uses for the IPad. Taking notes, underlining and drawing.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is unlocked where you can choose whatever mobile provider you like. It has a SIM card in it ready for AT&T, Sprint, and a few others, but not Verizon. I had to have a SIM card shipped to me from Verizon before I could have mobile service on my iPad. (I was replacing a previous iPad with Verizon service.) I replaced the SIM card myself. It will take a couple of calls to Verizon if that’s your service. Also, buying it unlocked means you don’t have to sign up/pay for those lengthy contracts they try to hook you into. I can’t help you with the earbuds part... I use the Apple Pods. Good luck!
