how is data transferred from old to new ipad null

There is supposed to be a simple transfer by bringing the old iPad close to the new iPad, but that didn’t work for us. The best way we found was to back the old iPad up to iCloud, and then during the start up process to choose the old iPad backup to download data to new iPad.

You can use ICloud backup in the settings Settings> Apple ID> ICloud> iCloud backup

Just put in your apple ID on the new ipad and it populates all your info from the cloud.
