“Why is it $200 off “with activation today”? If there some sale being run on it or does this only get applied with a new AT&T contract or something?”

That one-time payment option you're referring to is only applicable to new customers or new lines. It's a bit misleading, I know. The upgrade price is full MSRP.

I was able to do as an AT&T upgrade to existing line and got the $200. You must do this on the 36 month payment plan to get the $200 over that time if doing as an upgrade.
