The short answer...it depends. Go to this Apple support site (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201328#:~:text=Your%20iPhone%20might%20be%20locked,to%20Settings%20%3E%20General%20%3E%20About.) , and type in How to Unlock Your iPhone to Use With a Different Carrier. Once your phone is unlocked from the carrier, you can transfer to Boost. You will buy minutes through your Boost account after that.
