My guess is it’s to deter thieves because it can only be activated on one carrier which makes it less desirable.
A:AnswerYes you can keep your current plan without upgrading. You will get some money for a trade in if you have one otherwise it will cost more per month. You can see offers/cost by adding the phone to your cart. Unfortunately, to get the phone free you will have to upgrade your plan.
A:AnswerNo. In order to do that you would have to buy it overseas and get it shipped to you(not cost efficient). However if ur worried about internationally, most places have eSIM carriers(and you get a bigger battery)
